University of Alberta Botanic Garden

When it comes to outdoor wedding venues and wedding portrait locations in the Edmonton, Spruce Grove and Devon area The University of Alberta Botanic Gardens is one of the most popular.

Formerly known as the Devonian Botanic Garden it is located just off highway 60 in Parkland County, in-between Devon and Spruce Grove.

The garden opened in 1959 with 240 acres of stunning gardens, plant collections, and extensive nature trail system and indoor shophouses the University of Alberta Botanic Gardens are an excellent Wedding venue.

The top highlight of the garden would definitely be the Kurimoto Japanese Garden. This is where the majority of couples have their wedding portraits taken.

Some of the other highlights of the garden would be the exotic butterflies in the Tropical Show house.

The Aga Khan Garden is 4.8 hectares with geometric water features, forest paths,

and stunning wide stepped terraces that will change depending on the seasons.

The gardens are open year round for education courses and seasonally for visitors.


Story Behind the Photo

Kayla and Shawn were married in the summer. Their ceremony and reception were held in Spruce Grove at the Elks Hall but their wedding photos were booked at the Botanic Gardens. They had a super fun wedding party that was up for anything and even had suggestions for areas that they loved at the Gardens.
