Engagement Photographer Sherwood Park

We met Becky at Bridal Fantasy in Edmonton, and then met Cory at our wedding consultation at Good Earth Café. When they described their outdoor wedding we had so many great ideas to capture such a special day for them. When we were planning their engagement session both Becky and Cory expressed how much they loved the outdoors and wanted to incorporate as much of a natural setting as we could. This couple lives on a beautiful piece of property just outside of Sherwood Park. They run Shadowlands Ranch and board horses year round. We went out there in the spring of 2015 around 5:30pm on May 31st to capture their engagement photos. The weather started out great and we got some amazing shots around their yard. After about 20 min there was a storm moving in so luckily they have a cool barn that we could take a bit of cover and continue with the shoot in there. This photo was taken after the storm and the light was extremely bright. Becky had mentioned how important horses were to her so I wanted to use the bales at some point during the shoot. I knew if I moved back and captured all the bales it would create a very nice image. We posed them so they were both looking away from the camera and just enjoying a moment to themselves. The sky was super bright so I had to be careful not to overexpose them. I used a Canon 5D Mark III with a 24-70mm 2.8L series lens. I created this image because I wanted to have a nice wide angle shot that they could hang on their wall. The difficulties that I encountered would have been the posing. We wanted to make it look as natural as possbile while still having an intimate moment between the two of them.

Location: Sherwood Park, Alberta.
