Weddings are supposed to be the happiest day in your life and for the most part that is true. We wanted to know if there were any sad moments for couples on their big day. So we asked all of our previous couples and to be honest we were surprised with the answer.
The saddest moment for the majority of Edmonton weddings was the parent dance. The reason being is that their parent was overcome with emotion which in turn made them very emotional. As you can imagine this is always our favourite part of the reception. At this point in the wedding all the formal stuff is over and everyone is much more relaxed, especially when their speech is finished.
We have two boys and every single wedding we photograph I wonder what their wedding will be like. As parents we watch our kids grow up in the blink of an eye. My mom used to tell me how fast it goes but I didn't quite grasp it until I had kids of my own, and she couldn't have been more right.
So yes these moments are sad but for all the right reasons. For the parents its an overwhelming sense of pride and nostalgia and for the bride and groom it's realizing how much their parent did for them to get them to this moment.
