This portrait is of a grade 12 high school student from Memorial Composite High School in Stony Plain, Alberta.
When it comes to photographing teenagers our main goal is to make sure that there personality shines through. This is the reason we always find out about their hobbies, or interests. With this grad her love of dance was at the top of her list. She has been dancing for 7 years at Karar Performing Arts in Stony Plain, AB T7Z 1L1. She was a little shy to start off but when we asked her about dance her expressions became much more genuine.
When we asked her about her future plans she was extremely excited to have been pre accepted by the Memorial University of Newfoundland for marine biology.
For this portrait we really wanted to feature this beautiful girl in a natural setting. She is from a small town and loves being outdoors. That inspired us to use the top of this hill to provide a feeling of endless greenery behind her.
I used a Canon 7D with a Canon 24-70mm 2.8L series lens.
We photographed her as part of our grad photo sessions.
